Requirements:
- Candidates should hold a PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or related fields (obtained not earlier than 2014 or received within 7 years before the year joining the project with the exceptions provided by the relevant National Science Centre regulations and not later than the date of signing the project employment contract.)
- Excellent experience with animal models related to cancer study and/or immunology.
- Practical skills in cell culture and molecular biology (additional experience in work with immunology assays will be additionally rewarded).
- Knowledge in the field of immunology, oncology, oncoimmunology and experience in conducting scientific research confirmed by outstanding publication record.
- Ability to conduct research independently and work within a research team.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to write and edit scientific texts.
Description of tasks:
The aim of the project is to modify the immune cells within tumors by applying the oligonucleotide therapeutics delivered by silk nanocarriers. Oligonucleotide-based drugs are expected to restore the immune anti-tumor response. The spheres made of bioengineered spider silk will be used as a carrier for nucleic acid-based therapeutics.
We will develop and characterize the silk spheres that carry the oligotherapeutics, and the therapeutic potential of these molecules will be examined in vitro and in vivo. We will examine whether the resulting spheres will provide oligotherapeutics to TME immune cells in mouse models of breast cancer and whether it will be beneficial in terms of tumor destruction.
The project is interdisciplinary and includes biotechnology, molecular biology, materials science, oncology and immunology. The implementation of the project will also include such tasks as data analysis and preparation of publications, presentation of results at laboratory meetings and international conferences, and technical supervision over other team members working in the project.

The conditions of employment:
Employment under a contract of employment for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 48 months.
Salary: Up to PLN 10 000 (gross gross) per month, depending on previous work experience. The position complies with the requirements specified in the resolution of the UMP Senate No. 236/2019.
Position starts on March 1st, 2021 or as soon as possible hereafter
